Welcome to the Wonderful World of Water Color!
Debbie Buckner, a dear friend and the wife of Pacific Area DTA (Director of Temporal Affairs Brent Buckner) is a superb artist. The wives of the Area Presidency asked her to teach us water color painting and she graciously obliged. We began around October 2015 and it has proven to be a favourite hobby of mine.
This was my first attempt at painting the New Zealand Temple. Sorry I don't know how to crop or edit on the blog so Brett's photo is gazing at temple grounds:) |
This view of Auckland cityscape is from a waverunner out in the ocean. Tay and I rented one and went to Rangitoto volcano to explore and enjoy all the views. |
This fanciful scene reminds me of all our pretty princess grand cherubs! I love the swan:) |
Hobbiton inspired this Hobbit water wheel painting. This is my most complicated painting and took the longest. I am really loving water color! |
This is my second New Zealand Temple painting. I really do love to see (and paint) the temple! |
This is a technique Debbie taught us that we call the "bowl" for obvious reasons:) |
My cutie Kalei inspired this painting. I love Rangitoto and I love the simplicity of this sweet little girl gazing out at such beauty. |
This early painting of Rangitoto was an attempt to paint Pohutokawa trees. They look different in all stages and only bloom around December/January. |
This was an experiment in painting night/light. Bombed my original intent but I like the haunting quality. Good for Halloween? |
Experiment in color. Love its brightness and the watery/dripping/blending into each other aspect. |
While Jenna was here I she gave me the idea of painting a Rangitoto view for all six Nielsen families. This represents another practice painting toward that goal:) |
